SBE Partners With David’s Refuge
A number of years ago, the Syracuse Builders Exchange (“SBE”) began a partnership with David’s Refuge, which provides respite, resources and support to parents and guardians of children with special needs or life threatening medical conditions where they will be refreshed, restored and renewed in their role as caregivers.
David’s Refuge is devoted to serving families who care for some of the most vulnerable members of our communities, including those who work in the construction industry. David’s Refuge want caregivers to know they are not alone, what they do matters and the community supports them. David’s Refuge stands by their values of respect, relationships, compassion, empowerment and excellence.
Many of SBE’s member firms may not be aware such a wonderful, local not-for-profit exists to help those in our community and those employed in the construction industry. To learn more about how David’s Refuge may support employees of our member firms who are caregivers to dependents with special needs, please visit www.davidsrefuge.org.
Should companies or people feel compelled to support David’s Refuge, please email Executive Director Kate Houck at [email protected].

Make-A-Wish Central New York is on a mission to ‘create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses’ across the 15-county Central New York regions they serve, ‘transforming lives, one wish at a time.’
Pools, she-sheds, tree houses, room makeovers and accessible playsets are exceedingly popular wishes. As a result, we need electrical, landscaping, carpentry, plumbing, construction, drywall and cement foundations, painting and flooring, and project management services.
Each wish has a budget; however, in-kind donations are sought at every turn, allowing us to grant more wishes. We’d love to talk with you regarding wishes currently in process and their specific needs. If you can help, please contact Katie Lannon at [email protected]. For general questions, contact Kate Veley, [email protected]. Visit our website at cny.wish.org.
